Elle-evate with Yoga

Sometimes in life, you feel out of control. Like you’re trapped in the ocean with waves crashing down on you. And every time you think you’re close to getting to the shore, the rip current pulls you right back out.

That’s exactly how your negative thoughts and bad habits can make you feel. It’s like a death grip on your mind and can seem impossible to break free. But it’s not impossible. You have the power inside of you to do it. Getting your mind centered so you can overcome these mental obstacles is the key.

A fabulous way to get centered, so you can get out of the crashing waves of stress and sit safely on the shore, is by practicing yoga.

As much as I love yoga now, I was very skeptical about it before I started. I thought yoga was only for flexible hippies who chanted to the universe. But I was completely wrong. Yoga has nothing to do with what you eat or what you believe. It’s about centering yourself and focusing your mind and body to invite positive experiences into your life.

After I started yoga, I was hooked. I went as often as my budget would allow. And before I knew it, my ability to articulate and achieve my goals improved tremendously. I developed an intense sense of calmness in my life. And my friends noticed I was becoming more graceful and more humble at the same time I was growing within my career and stabilizing my life.

Yoga helped me to open myself to connect my mind, body and spirit. And it can do the same for you. If you’re feeling lost, in a rut, or just plain bored with your life, I strongly suggest you give yoga a try. Because when your mind, body and spirit work together you feel better, you look better, and you feel an amazing amount of joy. And before you know it, you’ll find when you do yoga, your mind will automatically show you what it is you’re afraid, outside of yoga, and what you can do mentally to fix it.

But don’t let the word “yoga” intimidate you. There’s nothing about it that’s out of your reach. You are just as good as everyone else taking the class; no one there will judge you.

To help clear up any misconceptions about yoga, here are the top three myths you shouldn’t believe about yoga:

1. You don’t have to be naturally flexible.
2. You don’t have to be a vegetarian.
3. You don’t have to know how to meditate.

Elle-evated Action:

I encourage you to experiment with yoga. You may just find an unknown treasure to help you find your way.
